As the Save the Dates and invites for fall events flood our mailboxes, take a moment to savor the beauty of this beautiful August day. Check out a new restaurant, a concert in the park, a new splash pad or just have one more last summer outdoor gathering. We are blessed to call The Woodlands our hometown with wonderful, caring neighbors. Celebrate the blessing that is today! While you are enjoying the final weeks of summer, look for me, so you too can be “Scene in The Woodlands.”

HOPE ON THE GREEN GOLF TOURNAMENT

The HOPE On The Green Golf Tournament benefiting The Will Herndon Fund for Juvenile Batten Disease Research and The Beyond Batten Disease Foundation was held at the beautiful 27-hole course at Woodforest Golf Club. Nearly 200 golfers played in the second annual event that included a $1,000,000 Shoot Out and $100,000 Putting Contest sponsored by Woodforest, and two Hole-In-One Contests sponsored by Northside/ Westside Lexus and Conroe Golf Cars. Nearly $80,000 was made at this year’s HOPE Golf Tournament benefiting research to find a treatment for Juvenile Batten Disease, a rare, inherited, neurodegenerative condition affecting my 8-year-old son, Will. This is currently a fatal condition with no cure or treatment, but we have HOPE. Proceeds will go directly to the most promising research to find a treatment to help Will and the hundreds of others affected with this devastating condition. For more information, see www.willherndon.org.  On behalf of our family, I thank this community, The Woodlands Lifestyles & Homes publishers Bill and Linda Anderson and the entire Fort Bend Publishing staff for their continued support.
