Courtney Bryan has joined the law firm of Stibbs & Co., P.C., Attorneys as an associate attorney. Bryan received her Juris Doctorate from Paul M. Hebert Law Center in Baton Rouge, La., and earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from Louisiana Tech University.
Bryan clerked for the First Judicial District Court in Shreveport, La. She was a member of the Environmental Law Society, Public Interest Law Society, Student Speakers Bureau and Sigma Kappa Sorority. In addition, she received the CALI Award of Excellence for Obligations 002, Paul M. Hebert Law Center Faculty Merit Scholarship, the Louisiana Tech University Outstanding Student Scholarship and the Sigma Kappa National Three Stars of Excellence in Philanthropy and Service.

Amy Milstead, president of Milstead Automotive, has been selected by a panel of judges for the Houston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list. Leaders included in the list will be formally recognized at a later date.
This is the fourth year the Houston Business Journal has compiled the list of leaders under the age of 40 through a stringent selection process. The list is comprised of individuals who have excelled in their respective industries and leadership in the community.

Melanie Bush, entrepreneur and President of Better Bookkeepers in The Woodlands, was named president-elect of the Executive Women’s Alliance in Montgomery County. Bush is a strong advocate for young women in the Conroe area. “It is truly an honor to be president-elect of EWA,” said Bush. ”I am passionate about expanding the scope of the organization, and I am determined to encourage more women to mentor these young girls. They deserve opportunities and EWA is here to empower them.”
The Executive Women’s Alliance is a not-for-profit organization in Montgomery County comprised of professional women including business owners, upper level managers and directors. EWA aims to provide career enhancement and leadership opportunities for its members and educational outreach programs to young women through their Women of Vision Program.

The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership held its 14th annual Elected Officials Reception at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center. Several elected officials at the federal, state and local levels were in attendance at the reception, as well as more than 100 guests.
“Our elected officials have continuously dedicated themselves to enhancing our community, supporting our local businesses, as well as encouraging new businesses to locate to our area,” said Gil Staley, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership. “This event provides us an excellent opportunity to simply say thank you to our elected officials for their dedication and sacrifice.”

Four Memorial Hermann campuses — The Woodlands, Katy, Memorial City and Sugar Land — were recognized for their excellence and commitment to newborns and their families. The Texas Department of State Health Services granted these facilities its Exemplary Five-Star Award for work in five areas: timeliness; standardization; training; collection of birth information; and immunization registry. This year marks the ninth year in a row that Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital has been awarded this honor by The Texas Department of State Health Services.

The Leadership Montgomery County Class of 2012 explored economic development in the county at its session on Feb. 2. The session was sponsored by long-time supporters of Leadership Montgomery County, The Woodlands Township, with its special Economic Development Partnership with LMC.
Session Director Gil Staley planned the session for the class that began at the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce with a panel of economic development experts from throughout the county. The panel consisted of Tom Stinson, Greater Conroe Economic Development Council; Nick Wolda, The Woodlands Township; Fred Welch, Greater Houston Partnership; Sandy Seelye, East Montgomery County Improvement District; Gil Staley, The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership; Barry Tate, Magnolia Economic Development; Ray Laughter, Lone Star College System; and J.R. Moore, Jr., Montgomery County Tax Assessor-Collector. Class members were given the opportunity to ask questions and interact with the panel throughout the morning.
New to the Economic Development Session this year was “Scenarios 2040” presented by the Center for Houston’s Future Director of Strategic Initiatives Donna Rybiski. Scenarios 2040 explores what the greater Houston region could be like in the year 2040.
