SOUTH MONTGOMERY COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT BREAKS GROUND FOR NEW STATION IN SPRING

The South Montgomery County Fire Department has broken ground on a new fire station, its first since 2012, at 3560 Discovery Creek Blvd. near Rayford Road Drive in the master-planned community of Harmony.

The new 9,000-square-foot fire stationwill house two bays, a fitness center for department personnel, kitchen and sleeping quarters for five.

Scheduled to open next year, Station 11-6 is expected to help the department maintain its coveted ISO Class 1 rating for performance, staffing, training and water supplies.

The ISO Class 1 rating, earned by only 178 of the nation’s fire departments, is based on statistical information provided by the for-profit Insurance Service Office. As a result, Harmony residents could realize the lowest possible rates on the fire protection portion of their homeowner’s insurance policy.

A master-planned community by Johnson Development Corp., Harmony offers new homes by Ashton Woods Homes, CastleRock Communities, Darling Homes, Highland Homes, Perry Homes, Shea Homes, Taylor Morrison, Village Builders and Westin Homes starting in the $220s.

Harmony families benefit from the convenience of two on-site early childhood education centers and two recreation centers with resort-style pools. Residents also enjoy the convenience of an H-E-B, Texas Children’s Pediatrics and various retail offerings at the community’s entrance.

WOODFOREST TAPS HIGHLAND HOMES FOR NEW GATED ENCLAVE

Highland Homes is expanding its presence in master-planned Woodforest, starting presales in a new neighborhood, Russet Peak.

Highland Homes is offering homes ranging from 1,800 to 3,500 square feet in Russet Peak, a gated neighborhood of 32 wooded homesites. Pricing for the neighborhood starts in the $260,000s. “Russet Peak offers buyers ample value,” said Virgil Yoakum, general manager of Woodforest. “Highland Homes offers highly amenitized, elegant designs and the gates will help minimize traffic throughout the neighborhood. Plus, the Forest Island recreation complex is nearby.”

Until now, recent development within Woodforest has been concentrated in the community’s South District, where nine new model homes have opened this year. Russet Peak, centrally located within the master plan near the active adult village of Bonterra at Woodforest, signals the expansion farther north within the development.

Woodforest also recently announced the start of construction within another new neighborhood, Kingsley, located near Fish Creek Thoroughfare across from the Woodforest Homefinder Lodge. Kingsley will feature Southern-styled homes from Gracepoint Homes and Wendell Legacy Homes.

Highland Homes is one of Woodforest’s earliest builders, offering homes in the community since 2009. Employee-owned Highland Homes was founded in 1985 and today builds in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.

Highland Homes is one of 22 builders offering designs priced from the $190,000s to the millions in Woodforest.
