Community leaders, together with Memorial Hermann Health System administrators and affiliated physicians, recently gathered at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital to bless the facility’s new helipad. Located on the roof of the East Tower and visible from Interstate 45, the helipad will function as one of two north-side bases for Memorial Hermann Life Flight, the health system’s critical care air medical transport service – broadening the System’s coverage in North Houston. Life Flight will continue to utilize David Wayne Hooks Airport in Spring as its other base, splitting its time between the two locations each month.

“The decision to have a Life Flight base here in The Woodlands is just one of the ways Memorial Hermann is elevating and expanding essential trauma services for Magnolia County and its surrounding rural areas,” said Josh Urban, senior vice president and CEO, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital.

Memorial Hermann The Woodlands expects to receive its official Level II trauma designation this fall; however, the hospital has already been operating as a Level II, with the capability to provide comprehensive trauma care, 24 hours a day. With the exception of highly acute circumstances such as severe burns, transplants and pediatric trauma, almost all trauma care can now be managed in The Woodlands.

In the case of those limited exceptions, Life Flight will quickly transport patients to the System’s Level I trauma center located in the Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Red Duke Trauma Institute.

“With a base now located in Montgomery County, response time to pick up from surrounding rural areas and transport time downtown will be even shorter,” said Urban.

Led by franchise owner Jim Potesta, this will be the first location in The Woodlands and the 13th studio in Houston. The new fitness studio will feature 34 workout stations and will be 3,900 square feet.

The newest location is expected to open by the end of 2017, and the temporary pre-sales office will be located on the north side of Kroger in the Cochran’s Crossing shopping center. New home sales are flourishing in Johnson Development’s Houston-area communities, with builders reporting 27 percent more homes sold during the first six months of 2017 than the previous year.

Builders sold a total of 1,560 homes through the first half of the year, compared to 1,225 in 2016. Three developments reported a year-over-year sales increase topping 35 percent: Richmond’s Harvest Green, with 48 percent more sales in 2017; Harmony in Spring, with 45 percent more sales during the first six months; and Imperial in Sugar Land, with 37 percent more sales this year.

In terms of actual number of homes sold, Riverstone heads the list not only among Johnson Development’s Houston-area communities, but all developments in the region, according to a recently released mid-year sales report by housing think tank Robert Charles Lesser & Co. (RCLCO). With 276 sales – a 19 percent increase from mid-year 2016 – Riverstone is ranked at No. 1 in Houston, No. 2 in Texas and No. 16 in the nation. “Again this year, we were blessed to have more top-selling master-planned communities in the nation than any other developer,” said Doug Goff, Johnson Development president and COO. “Thanks to a great team of professionals who manager our communities, our home sales are on pace to exceed 3,000 in the Houston market in 2017.”

Newmark Homes President Mike Moody says the amenities in Johnson communities and the thoughtful development has fueled home sales.“We build in seven Johnson developments and do so because we know the community will be well planned and no corners will be cut in creating a neighborhood where people will want to live.”

Three Johnson communities started their first full year of home sales this year: Grand Central Park in Conroe, Jordan Ranch in Fulshear and Veranda in Richmond.
