The Phoenician Resort sets the standard
Searching for Something Special?
Picturesque, elegant, diverse, indulgent, aesthetic: adjectives that represent only a sneak preview of the words one might use to describe Arizona’s premier luxury resort—The Phoenician. In 1988, this AAA Five Diamond resort opened its doors and suddenly the standard for luxury and service was elevated, and the Sonoran Desert became a lot more appealing, if not cooler. Set amidst 250 acres of lush gardens and dramatic desert terrain with Camelback Mountain as its backdrop, this wilderness getaway embodies the landscape, art and architecture of the American southwest.
Situated between Phoenix and Scottsdale, the concept of the resort is to present to guests a world-class destination resort amid the landscape of the southwest, then to add touches of tropical island resorts along with luxurious appointments of some of the finest hotels in Europe. A dazzling $25 million art collection, a two-acre Cactus Garden, grand pianos galore, imported Italian marble, a personal butler, endless water, poolside luxury and even afternoon tea are some of the details that lend authenticity to the realization of the original idea.
What truly sets The Phoenician apart, though, is the diversity afforded guests. Accommodations range from luxurious guestrooms to residential-style casitas; dining can be casually elegant, informal or even memorable; world-class recreation choices vary from golf, tennis and spa facilities to more unconventional pastimes such as touring the resort’s fascinating Cactus Garden or exclusive art collection or feeding the Koi that live in the resort’s Necklace Lake Lagoon.
Totaling 643, guestrooms and suites are available in a choice of three locations throughout the sprawling property—the main building, the casitas or the Canyon Suites. Luxurious guestrooms are expansive and every piece of art within, hand-selected. Suites include multiple bedrooms and magnificent views; some even have fireplaces. Presidential suites offer elegance, luxury and spaciousness, featuring dramatic vistas, two bedrooms with separate bathing and dressing areas, oversized living areas and even Steinway baby grand pianos, limousine transportation and a 24-hour personal butler.
Just a short walk away from the main building and adjacent to Necklace Lake Lagoon, guests can relax at the casitas. These additional guestrooms and suites offer doorstep parking, private entrances and all first floor casitas are pet-friendly (up to 50 pounds).
The Canyon Suites, a boutique hotel within the resort, sits nestled against Camelback Mountain and affords guests a variety of enhanced, exclusive services, such as special welcome and turndown amenities. A personal ambassador is available to assist with any need or desire. On weekdays, guests are invited to a complimentary Afternoon Wine Tasting with a resident expert, such as Greg Tresner, Master Sommelier for The Phoenician.
Visitors to the Phoenician not only enjoy a variety in accommodations, but also dining. Nine diverse and inspired restaurants include Il Terrazzo, which features authentic Italian cuisine and hand-crafted artisan breads, prepared daily on property. Tempting treats and casual meals are delivered at the charming Café and Ice Cream Parlour. Poolside patrons find fare at the Oasis and Canyon Pool Grills and golfers grab their grub at the 19th Hole Grill. Afternoon Tea is served up in the Lobby Tea Court, but if cigars and spirits are more appealing, the Thirsty Camel Lounge may be more your style. Private dining choices include The Praying Monk—intimate, Renaissance-inspired—or Dinner at Tee Box Eight—private, gourmet dinner for two under the stars at the highest point on the resort’s golf course.
World-class Leisure Pastimes
Guests can select from a variety of additional outdoor activities: tennis on four surfaces, swimming in nine pools, lawn bowling, basketball and bike rentals are just a few. The real star here, though, is golf. The Phoenician is home to an award winning USGA Championship golf club. Designed by Homer Flint and Ted Robinson Sr., multiple 18-hole combinations are available across three 9-hole courses; the Oasis (featuring a tropical setting with tranquil water features at every turn), Canyon (lush landscaping on Camelback Mountain’s southern slope with sweeping views of the Valley of the Sun) and Desert (best known for its dramatic elevation changes and awe-inspiring views). A driving range, putting green, golf shop and men’s and women’s locker rooms are provided for patrons. Immaculate greens, first-class private facilities and exceptional instruction, clinics and academies define golf at The Phoenician.
Guests who seek enlightenment indulge in an array of pampering and rejuvenating spa treatments at the Centre for Well-Being—one of the leading resort spas in the country. The Centre takes inspiration from the ancient legend of the mythical phoenix, which rose from the ashes of its past to be reborn. Here guests enjoy an extensive array of massage treatments and the most progressive bodywork programs currently available. Designed to inspire relaxation, fitness and overall health, guests who purchase any 50-minute service are invited to participate in any fitness class and enjoy unlimited use of spa facilities, including sauna, whirlpool, weight room and Meditation Atrium.
If outdoor sanctuary speaks louder to your consciousness, then tour the Cactus Garden with its 250 varieties of cacti and succulents. Spanning two acres, this desert paradise stretches along the base of Camelback Mountain, and each plant is labeled for easy, leisurely and serene self-guided tours.
The Phoenician additionally offers guests a self-guided audio tour of its amazing art collection. The museum-quality program is an inspiring examination of old world and contemporary works by a number of society’s most influential European and Native American artists.
At The Phoenician, even meetings become an art form. The inspiring desert setting, state-of-the-art technology and attentive service elevate your meetings beyond the ordinary.
The Phoenician is much more than a world-class luxury resort. Fine touches, such as painstaking attention to detail, inspiring décor, unsurpassed amenities and attentive service make every stay at The Phoenician an unforgettable one!
