Denman Moody, who has been tasting and writing about wine since the 1970s, shares his vast knowledge with readers hoping to take their wine knowledge to the next level in The Advanced Oenophile. Moody presents wine fans with a new, entertaining and educational book that provides practical information that can only be obtained from a professional who has spent more than three decades reviewing and critiquing wine.

Moody shares his vast knowledge gained from his evolution as a wine journalist and editor to wine consultant who has sampled prized vintages along the way. The book includes articles he has penned that give readers a unique perspective of the world of wine. Readers will be informed about the main wine regions throughout the world, and are treated with wine knowledge separators, facts that even the most passionate wine lovers typically do not know. Moody also includes his recommendations for wine purchases that fit every budget. The Advanced Oenophile includes six articles and chapters written by experts in their respective fields. Two articles are written by the No. 1 expert in the world for the topics of Port and Madeira.

Moody has been involved with the world of wine since joining the International Wine and Food Society in 1974. He has tasted many of the best and most valuable wines ever produced. Most of the fabled vintages were from Bordeaux, France, and dated as far back as 1819. Well-known wine experts have stated Moody’s book is perfect for wine lovers wanting to take it to the next level, and Moody wants his readers to feel the same way.

“While it seems like my book is more appropriate for those who are already into wine, there is plenty of information for novice wine drinkers who want to enjoy a fine bottle of wine,” Moody says. “My book shows them how to do that without having to go to Bordeaux or Napa Valley every time.”

Moody began the quarterly wine newsletter Moody’s Wine Review in 1978. The Washington Post said his Review was “the best publication in this country for tracking the state of rare and exotic wines.” He was the contributing editor on rare wines for International Wine Review in New York, and has also been published in numerous national and international publications, including Revue du Vin de France in Paris.

For the past decade, Moody has written the monthly wine column for Houston Lifestyles & Homes and its four sister magazines, reaching more than 400,000 high-end homes in the Houston metro. In 1991 Denman was inducted into “Who’s Who in Food and Wine in Texas — recognized as a major contributor to the field of food and wine in Texas” by The Dallas Morning News and the Texas Department of Agriculture. He has also received a lifetime achievement award from the Houston Grand Opera Wine Classic.

The Advanced Oenophile is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
